Billy Ramsey

The face claim for Billy is Halle Berry.
Tyson and Billy are working from a point of Mutually Assured Destruction.
If Delaney doesn’t feed her tips about criminal operations in competition with the web and any corporate corruption rumours that come his way, she’ll expose his true career to the world; endangering those he loves. If Ramsey doesn’t keep quiet about his work, he’ll ruin her career by reveal where her information came from; and stopping the funds going to her daughter, Pepper.
Neither are cruel people. Neither Tyson nor Billy want to hurt the other, and the people in their lives, like that. However, it’s a fact of their arrangement that the danger in there on both sides. Frenemies is the best way to explain their relationship. They get on well enough, but here will always be a rivalry to their interactions. Trying to out play each other: Billy trying to get more information out of Delaney, Tyson trying to lead Ramsey’s attention towards enemies of the web.
Though Billy is now a freelance reporter - primarily investigative, and current events to pay the bills - she got her start in the fashion columns. A passion that never truly went away. Whenever Tyson sees her, Billy is wearing at least one new item. She doesn’t wear much jewellery, usually only earrings, but she seems to have a different hat for every day of the year. Whilst vests and tank-tops are fine, Billy has a hated of t-shirts that she’s never given a straight answer to Tyson about.
“Ha, get it? Because I’m-”
“Yes, you’re a lesbian. I know, Billy.”
As such, Tyson had ended up being ‘gifted’ innumerable t-shirts from the various events and conventions that Billy has covered. Rarely something Tyson would wear of his own volition, but they come in handy when he needs a disguise for a role: for himself or Lex. Mercy be the generic unisex medium sized t-shirt standardisation.
When Billy was little, her father used to call her a ‘silly, billy, little goat’. It was a name that stuck around. Her twin brother Oswald apparently also had a similar nickname. One she refuses to tell Tyson, claiming that it only makes sense if one sees Oswald’s reaction to it and Tyson has yet to meet the older - “But only by, like, two minutes - so it doesn’t really count.” - Ramsey twin.
Before their rivalry began, Tyson met her whilst walking his dogs, as a fellow night owl wandering around Bushy Park. They bonded over a shared sense of underwhelming disappoint over that name, a dislike of alcohol, and a love of autumn, though Tyson can’t match her love of Halloween. On that first night, he also learnt that she hates every type of bug and insect.
Since then, Tyson found out that she loves hot chocolate with whipped cream and hates tea with a burning passion. He took her took adopt her cat, a three-legged Abyssinian Cat called Quip, because she doesn’t shut up. Ever. An adventurous cat who cares more about playing than cuddling, and meows even whilst she’s asleep. Quip is missing her back left leg entirely, seemingly from birth, and lacks hearing in her right ear due to infection from years living as a stray.
Billy has a daughter, Pepper, who is currently attending Cambridge University to study zoology and archaeology. She only applied as a pipe-dream, knowing that she could never pay the tuition. However, when Pepper was accepted by the university, Billy refused to let her give up such an amazing opportunity for financial reasons.
Knowing his history with the university, Billy went to Tyson, willing to beg and plead, to hand over every scrap of evidence against him. None of that was necessary. Tyson was happy to use the family fortune to pay for Pepper’s education. So long as Pepper completes her education, and Billy doesn’t expose him, Tyson will pay for her tuition and any expenses.
He ran from the family legacy of teaching mathematics at Cambridge, but - in his heart of hearts - Tyson will always be a scholar and he loves Cambridge, both the city and the university. He has a kind heart, and goes out of his way to do good to atone for the work he does for the Moriarty Mirrors. Even if Tyson will only admit to the first reason, Billy knows the whole truth.
Billy and Quip are a perfect pair, in that neither will ever shut up for all the gold in the world and yet - somehow - it is impossible to stay mad at either of them. Billy may ramble ceaselessly, but she’s so genuine in her words and so enthusiastic in her explanations that Tyson finds it impossible not to get drawn in by her energy.

Army!Verse and Veteran AU

In army!verse, Tyson was never filled with guilt over the death of Captain Samson, because he lived through his wounds, so Tyson never became too close to Sebastian which means he is still serving in the army, when you meet him it will be during brief periods of time when he is deployed back home, or when he’s in active service in compounds or training service dogs in Turkmenistan.
Without the damage he suffered with The Colonel Tyson was never damaged in the way he is in his normal!verse which means that The Soldier doesn’t exist in this verse. This makes Tyson much more confident than he normally is in his main!verse. He isn’t cocky and is rather insecure about his scars, but he’s more accepting to interactions with other characters and rarely stutters.
In this verse Tyson doesn’t have Lily or Bobby but he does have a Welsh Boarder Collie called Meg that he got from a rescue shelter and Jack. In this verse Tyson still has the dent and all his other wounds but they happened for different reasons, most of which were in a landmine explosion. In this verse he doesn’t work for Jim nor does he run the pet store.
In this verse he gets around on his motorbike.
In this verse he switches between living in the family manor, thought obviously everything is much more up to date and in use since Tyson actually lives there now, and a house he owns a thirty minute drive outside of London, views of the house under the tag army home.
In this verse, the roles of the people Tyson served with also changed accordingly.
  • Tyson never shot Melissa, but Emma still died in Moran’s escape.
  • Michael was never killed by Sebastian and eventually retired.
  • Samson continues to be Tyson’s direct superior within the First Bangalore Pioneers.
  • Since John’s injury made him retire, Tyson does his best to keep in contact with Watson.
  • Hannah’s retirement was the spark that ignited The Colonel’s escape.

Sub-verse of army!verse
Involves: former military characters, Open to all,
↳ Veteran AU
In this sub!verse, after the landmine explosion that caused most of his scars/dents, Tyson recovered very slowly rather than bouncing back. He was deemed unfit for service and given a honourable discharge.
Tyson is on prescription medication to cope with the pain of the dent, but is slowly recovering. After months of flashbacks, during which Tyson refused to see anyone about them, Jethro forced his brother to see a specialist and the former Lieutenant was diagnosed with PTSD.
He spends most of his weekends looking after his nephew, James.
He lives in the army!verse house and has Meg & Jack in this verse too.
Within Veteran AU, Tyson has taken to rollerskating […] as a form of physical therapy in his recovery. He sometimes finds long walks difficult and rollerskating is an easier way for him to move around, Meg and Jack love to run after him like that.
In this verses, Tyson spends a lot of time at The Biscuit Tin and that is where he met Billy, who unofficially hired him to help out with her investigations. Largely Tyson is paid in cold brew coffee, confectionery, and whichever pretty boy Billy sends his way that month.

Cats

Though Tyson loves cats, they don’t tend to like him as much.
This is almost entirely due to Tyson smelling of his dogs. When he’s had a few days away from his dogs, or when Tyson is meeting a cat that is more comfortable with dogs, he is good at reading cats behaviours and getting them to trust him.
The exception to this is one of the once a blue moon days when Tyson actually opens his pet store. Then, carrying the faint smell of catnip on him, he tends to make quick friends of the stray cats he comes across.
Cats within Tyson’s universe(s):
  • Amanda - Snowshoe - Molly Hooper
  • Felix - Ragdoll - Tyson’s in Redemption!Verse & Cat!Verse
  • Flynn - Maine Coon - Nate Morrison
  • Joe - Tortoiseshell - Stray at Dick Gannon’s apartment
  • Mandy - Tabby - Tyson in Kitten!Verse & Cat!Verse
  • Quip - Abyssinian - Billy Ramsey
  • Toby - Tabby - Molly Hooper

Choosing the right pet

Though Tyson rarely opens Pup’s Pet Store for the public, one of the services he offers when the store is actually open is to help people find the right pet for them; and more importantly in his eyes, the right person for that animal.
Tyson struggles to read and understand people, but Tyson knows animals and he’s good at reading how they’re feeling.
Within his main!verse, he found homes for all of Lily’s puppies: with the exception of Bobby, the runt of the little whom he always intended to keep. He was also the who found Toby (the Beagle) for John Watson to adopt and helped train him in the year that Sherlock was pretending to be dead, and he took Billy to adopt her cat, Quip.
He has a good memory for the general behavioural quirks for the majority of cat and dog breeds, though Tyson will admit that he can give far more detailed answers when it comes to how a dog can be expected to respond.
Having spent so much of his life handling service dogs for the army, Tyson has a good understanding of what an animal will need in those first few weeks and what they will need once they’re acclimatised. He knows how to train them and how much energy/time is needed to achieve certain things.
Tyson is an incredibly patient person, but he still understands the frustration of not feeling as though progress is being made with an animal. He is in a good position to help break through that communication wall and encourage a person to keep trying, to offer alternative solutions and provide that training himself if needs be.

Corruption!Verse

Even in corruption!verse, Tyson couldn’t bring himself to kill Sebastian Moran on purpose. He forced Sebastian to back off by stabbing him during one of his attacks, having never previously stuck out against Sebastian with any weapon, but even then, Tyson couldn’t bring himself to kill Sebastian.
Tyson had The Colonel at his mercy and he just… pressed a kiss to Sebastian’s forehead and walked away. He shrugs it off as not being worth the effort to kill Sebastian, but Tyson simply couldn’t bring himself to do it.
Tyson’s relationship with his brother, Jethro, had become somewhat strained. Jethro doesn’t know exactly what’s happened to Tyson, but he knows that his brother has strayed even further from the right path and he doesn’t know how to discuss it without escalating into an argument.
Sleeping with Lex has gone from an occasional, rare distraction to frequent stress relief in corruption!verse. His wildcard continues to be exactly that. Tyson could easily put him to heel, but his usefulness in keeping the web dynamic and the Moriarty Mirrors entertained remains.
Billy is in too deep, too compromised, to stop Tyson anymore with all the evidence he has to hold over her head. However, it’s rare that he pressures her for information and information that would damage enemies of the web usually end up in her hands instead.
Dick Gannon and James Delaney continue to be Tyson’s precious boys. Within corruption!verse, Tyson indulges Dick’s drinking a little more, but he stills cares about getting his stray back on his feet. Tyson’s nephew remains enamoured with his uncle and Tyson will do anything to keep him safe.
For all the Moriarty Mirrors efforts in corrupting Tyson into a weapon, the man who joined the web isn’t completely gone. He doesn’t go out of his way to make up for the bad he does within the web, but he will go out of his way to nurse a baby bird back to health out of principle. He won’t abide anyone hurting a child.
He is their weapon, but he is also their Pup. The mathematical prodigy with too keen eyes, a talent for maps, and secret smiles hidden behind his palm as he watches Jim’s tongue poke out in concentration as he works on his latest gadgets or toy. He’s still the pet to show up with coffee and sandwiches because he cares about looking after the Moriarty Mirrors.
Though Tyson is good at covering over his tattoos with make-up when he needs to for the web, he has never stopped hating having to conceal the ones on the back of his neck. They have become the bane of his existence.
When he’s not having to cover them up, Tyson honestly loves those tattoos. Running his fingers over the runes and sigils has almost become a nervous tick, a simple comfort taken from the temperature of them. A constant connection to his owners.
