Tyson’s face claims
(I don’t write Tyson any younger than seven so a face claim would be pointless.)

To keep every character, especially those at the extremes and the pets, in the correct age range, Tyson is now locked at 40.

The age difference between Tyson and his face claim Damien Molony.

Tyson is, at the point in time this was written, thirty one. Damien Molony is only twenty eight.

This, admittedly slight, age gap is to make Tyson seem younger. To show how he has suppressed information. His brain has created a state of denial to protect him from the trauma he has endured which makes him seem younger, more innocent and naïve.

The age gap is three years, for a good reason: Tyson was with Sebastian for three years which means he had suppressed, almost, all of those three years making him seem three years younger than he actually is. 

Tyson's military carrier timespan.

His entire time in the army was eleven years: four years basic training, followed by five years training the dogs, and then two years on the front line. 

Four years

Jethro is four years older than Tyson.

This is so he is young enough to have a strong bond with Tyson but old enough that he would be able to look after Tyson when their father was away.

His military carrier lasted eleven years.

He was born on October 21st 1981.

He dropped out of school at seventeen to join the Army so his father couldn't make him go to Cambridge university to teach mathematics, but by this point he'd already earned his degrees (3 Ph.Ds) and any work he had left was just tidying up course work. He (technically) left a week before his seventeenth birthday, but he thinks of it as his seventeenth birthday.

UPDATE 03/10/2013 - This makes Tyson's timeline, at this point in time, read as follows: seventeen year in Cambridge, eleven years in the army (four years basic training, followed by five years training the dogs, and then two years on the front line with Sebastian), fifteen months on the run with Sebastian, four months in the Middle East, two months travelling across Europe, and just over a year and a half with Jim.
