Meditation

Tyson’s thought process in meditation has been explained before in Tyson’s connection to earth. It is also common knowledge that he began learning how to focus his thoughts that way through Jasminehe learnt breathing techniques that helped with the dent in his torso whilst stopping at a monastery on the run with Sebastian, and Tyson tends to listen to classical music whilst meditating.
Less commonly known is that Bobby will slump along his flank to guard him whilst his eyes are closed. Whenever James joins Tyson’s meditation, Lily suddenly loves close contact and attaches herself to James’ hip.
As stressful as Tyson finds wasting time and allowing himself to breathe for even a second, Tyson loves meditating and allowing his thoughts to release; to process them subconsciously and relax for a few minutes. It goes against his philosophy for everything else, but it works for him.

Fishing

If it wasn’t a necessity to keep himself fed without carrying extra weight in rations, Tyson wouldn’t ever bother fishing.
He enjoys the opportunity to meditate that it provides and - depending on the water source - water can help relax him, but Tyson would prefer to simply meditate than fish to meditate; he does understand the appeal though.
Tyson hates to waste time whilst working, so fishing allows him to take a moment for himself - to clear his mind and think over the job - whilst doing something productive.
The other side of this is that Tyson doesn’t care about eating, viewing it as a chore rather than pleasure, so he doesn’t even find it rewarding to provide his own food to cook. It’s a necessity. A need rather than a want.
He likes the idea of fishing in a romanticised way, conceptually, rather than actually wanting to go out and do it.

Fishing

When on a mission for the web that requires roughing it, Tyson doesn’t bother bringing a fishing rod with him.
He prefers to travel light and finds it more efficient to simply pack a few hooks, lure, and some line, then float on top of the water and coax the fish into his hands. Tyson will fish from the shore when necessary, but he does prefer to tether a hook with a length of line and hide the hook in his finger until the fish is close enough.
There are several reasons for this, but in the case of those particular missions, it gives Tyson time to empty his mind. If he’s sent out into the wilderness, it’s usually to hunt down an enemy of the web or an employee that’s trying to run away. It’s never something good. He enjoys the opportunity to not worry for a few minutes, to stop glancing around his surrounding and simply feel the water around him.

Tyson likes fish.

He finds it soothing to watch fish swim around and when he was still in the monastery watching fish in the pond helped him meditate through the pain of his dent, back then it was newer and caused him more pain.
If Tyson had enough space in his apartment, or at least somewhere practical to put a tank in the available space, he’d have fish.
Most likely 7-12 fish similar in a large-ish tank.
Tyson would find similar fish with slight colour differences the most soothing because there is a nice colour balance / pattern that way.

Every breath counts.

Ever since he stayed in the first Monastery, Tyson has always made sure to regulate his breathing. In through his nose then out through his mouth, even when he's just walking. It's the technique used when he meditates.

He does this because of several reasons, the most important being it causes him less pain when Sebastian injures him. This works because it puts less stress on his ribs as he breaths.

The second reason is that it keeps him calm, meaning that his head is more clear and he can come up with a better way to address a situation even if he is angry or upset it allows him to think properly.

The third reason is that it allows him to feel some control. Since he met Sebastian he's had very little control over his life and controlling his breathing lets him feel as though he has some control.

When on the run from the military with Sebastian they spent two weeks in a Monestry in India so Tyson's ribs could heal. Whilst there the monk who put his ribs back in place taught him to meditate to regulate his breathing so he would be in less pain. Tyson regularly meditates because it helps him think.

Tyson had previously learnt how to calm down and breath with Jasmine, but she had taught him how to calm down after an anxiety attack. Not how to breath in a way that minimised the movement of his ribs.
